Chasing the Last of Autumn
Autumn disappeared faster than I was ready for.
One moment the colors were just starting to shift and the next, it felt like it was all slipping away. So, in a mild state of seasonal panic, I did what any reasonable photographer would do: grabbed my gear, got in the car, and headed south to Österlen. The mission was simple press pause, or at least rewind autumn just a little.
And for a while, it worked.
Österlen welcomed me with dramatic skies, shifting light, and just enough color left in the landscape to remind me why this season is worth chasing in the first place. Rolling hills, quiet coastlines, lone trees holding onto their last fiery leaves it all felt like autumn’s final encore.
Of course, there was a small trade-off.
Sleeping in the back seat of the car might sound adventurous, and it is, for about one night. After that, let’s just say the enthusiasm for long hikes starts to fade slightly. Comfort becomes a distant memory, and suddenly even a short walk feels like a major expedition.
But somehow, that’s part of it too.
Because when the light breaks through heavy clouds, when the colors glow just a little longer than expected, and when you manage to capture even a fragment of that fleeting season, it’s all worth it.
What wouldn’t you do to hold on to autumn just a little while longer?
